Aeronautical Engineering Eligibility in Detail

A thorough breakdown of every eligibility requirement for Aeronautical Engineering admission 2026 at SOACET and recognised institutions across India.

Candidates must have passed Class 10+2 (Higher Secondary) from a recognised board such as CBSE, ICSE, or any State Board.

The compulsory subjects are:

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

Alternatively, candidates with a 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electronics) from a recognised polytechnic are also eligible for lateral entry.

Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate in the PCM group at the 10+2 level:

General: 50% aggregate, SC/ST/OBC: 45% aggregate

Individual subject scores may also be considered. SOACET evaluates merit on a case-by-case basis for borderline candidates.

Candidates must be a minimum of 17 years old as of 31st December of the admission year.

The upper age limit is generally 25 years for the general category. Relaxation of 3–5 years is provided to SC/ST/OBC and differently-abled candidates as per government norms.

Candidates should be medically fit with no serious physical disabilities that would hinder lab or practical work.

Basic vision standards are required. Colour blindness may restrict certain specialisation tracks related to flight systems and electronics.

A medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner will be required at the time of admission.

Eligibility Checklist

Students who have appeared in the 10+2 examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply provisionally. Final admission is subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria.
